what is the best way to clean those triple filters and remove the crud.

As Mitch said but lightly tap them against a a hard surface to remove the bugs and loose crude out before wetting them with the cleaner and follow the instructions to the letter

thanks guys I did not know about the recharge thingy I will do just what you suggest . I just wished I could go for a ride on my birthday unfortunately up here in january 99% of the time it is around -20 % centigrade or worse and snow covers most roads I guess I will have to redo a euro trip in 2013 to feel good .

If it got that cold here I would be ----------------------------> outta here we ride all year round, I left Canberra because some mornings it gets down to -6c that was not fun coming out of a nice warm bakery at 6am and freezzing the nuts off. Now I am getting that way that sometimes I get soft and don't ride if it is raining yup getting OLD and Soft

Don't worry mate, it happens to all of us.
At least the ones lucky or blessed enough to survive till we get old.
heck I don't like to ride if it's below 20F myself anymore...

I have ridden in subzero temperatures without a windshield and in snow storm!! certainly the stupidest thing I ever did , I remember following a motorhome and riding in its tracks all the while wiping the snow off the helmet's visor did I say stupid ! that was in 2007 swore never to do it again . and now at the tender age of 67 (in january) I decided I need 15 degres minima before I roll the beast out of the garage .

just got the cleaning kit from KN simple and cheap ($15.00)

enjoy your balmy weather down under (I envy you )

when i get cold i go faster to scare myself gets the blood flowing only lasts just a little while

I remember back in the late seventies I rode my Yammy XT500 trail bike from Canberra down the Brown Mtn to Cobargo it was september the weather was warm when I left Canberra I was wearing a T-Shirt Bellstaff jacket open face Helmet and jeans with only the ol fav' desert boots and a pair of thin moto cross gloves, went down and stayed overnite at a friends farm down there... hads a great time.
The next day left to come back home when I got to the top of the brown I was met with a freak snow strom which lasted the next 30 odd km I got to Cooma went to the Servo (petrol station) which had a cafe attached when I stoped I had a 3 inch thick slab of ice on my front I staggered in to the cafe and sat on thier dishwashing mnachine for the next half hour till I got some feel back in to my hands feet a generally me allover That would have to be the coldest I have ever been

it is those hard to comprehend experiences that makes us different from the cagers and it remind us of what make us tick I can relate to your experience ,I felt the numbness the shivering , I did not seat on a dishwasher but I ran one of those hand dryer for an hour down my back so I know and I feel like a brother to you in these unusual life experiences

am I wiser now well just a bit I still feel the urge to stop thinking and just go.
