I have run stock, single filter attached to inner plenum, triple RU-2780 and now the Ramair. Never bothered with the underseat K&N as :-

1) I'm not a great believer in "stock-replacement" K&N's based on experience.
2) I wanted the filter box for storage.

The two major restrictions are:-

1) The "snorkels" in the seat base that lead to the filter - These are VERY small and very easy to block.
2) The ovals that link the inner and outer plenum. The minute you eliminate these - it breathes as it should.

If someone finds numbers directly comparing stock, K&N 2204 and the triple 2780's I hope they direct us to them. I bought the 2204 for $45 and it looks like it will flow much better than stock. IMO it's at least worth a basic investigation before excluding it since the stock filter produces more torque up to 4000 rpm than the 2780's.

I replaced the single OEM air filter with a single K&N TB-2204 filter. The surface area of the OEM filter's metal cover, which is not present on the K&N, appears to obstruct air flow by about 30%. While I can't tell a noticeable difference in performance, I don't think that would happen if the current tune's (tuneecu) air requirements were being met by the OEM. I can't see how this new K&N won't have more airflow simply because of the absence of the metal obstruction used on the OEM. I'm hoping to see that manifested when I have my PC5 installed and tuned. I know next to nothing about this subject and I would appreciate your thoughts as I have never seen actual flow rates for the K&N vs. the OEM filters.
