yea, when my '05 R3 blew up and the tranny went out on the '06, I decided to go a different route than Triumph. ended up on a couple Hondas then a Road Glide. put an extra $3000.00 into the motor to get it equal to my old Valkyrie. (103HP, 96ftlb TQ):). I rode it for almost 2 years then Triumph comes out with the Roadster. The Road Glide was a nice bike. it handled very well, as good or better than the Rocket, There are things that I miss from the RG, but the Power and Presence of the Roadster is intoxicating.

Point of all this is that I get the "Harley Brain wash" thing, that is one of the reasons I got rid if it. I couldn't drink the Kool-Aid. There are too many good bikes out there. Ignore the comments of your club mates. I give mine a good jab every now and then. HD has come a loooooong way in the past 5 years. I would have a Road Glide again if I ever win the lottery.:D

The old saw about, "it's not what you ride, it's IF you ride," is lost on some people. I've had Harleyites sing me the virtues of the SAE derived V-twin, and I would own one if that's the way I wanted to go. But I ride a bike not an icon and I'm not trying to be a part of some group think. Is it any different if you go hang out with a bunch of guys on the Chevy Power Tour? If you need to just blow them away with exclusivity (which is NEVER going to be a Harley) go buy a MTT Y2K and I doubt the Harley guys will say much about their bikes being the best American made 2-wheeler........

It was awful funny earlier on my way home from work. I just entered the highway home and a Suzuki ******rocket and a Ducati passed me and waved then hammered down as they went by. They were doing just over 100 mph. I know because a couple miles later they both turned around and looked at me and laughed and shook their heads in agreement as I had never let them get more than 3 or four bike lengths away from me as they zipped in and out of traffic. I let them go when they entered speed trap territory. Did I tell you all how much I enjoy this Rocket?:D

As most of you know I have a tendency to speak my mind.
And I get **** for it sometimes. Thats ok.
However I am starting to get pissed off now at some of the members of the bike club I am in.
They are all raving about their new Harleys that they have bought over the past couple months and bragging about how Harleys are # 1 and have lots of power.
All the other Harley riders in my group are going YA,YA YA #1 for Harleys.
My bike is the only Triumph.
It is sickening, is it just me or is this normal?
I have not said anything to any of the Harley guys because I know I will get **** for it.

I want to reply with something like this...

Q..What is in common with Harleys and hemmorhoids?
A...Sooner or later every ******* gets one.:p

I have found frequent wheelies tends to make them get quiet.

I do get respect from Harley riders, they do admire my bike.
I never said they did'nt.
What I don,t like is the constant bragging, and the superiority complex about Harleys.
It's like they are in a cult and have been totally brainwashed.
Anyways I will stop now. just needed to put my thoughts out there.

You're unhappy because these guys like their bikes. WTF.

I still don't get it. What's wrong with anyone liking their own bike more than someone else's? Did anyone actually read Mac's posts?

As I read all of the above posts I tried to figure out where I fit in the spectrum...and I guess I'm more of a pick your friends well and ride with people you enjoy spending time with kinda guy. I personally have the Rocket and a brand new Anniversary edition Ultra Classic Limited in the stable. I've ridden ****** rockets, sport bikes, cruisers and a Chinese knockoff of a 1945 BMW with a side car. For me its never about the bikes other than to check out other peoples to get ideas for mine and appreciate those that are more art than machine. I'm fortunate enough to live where year round riding is not only a possibility but a reality and as a consequence there are lots of bikes around to appreciate. My regular crew has my rocket, two harleys and two gold wings...and yes...they all know who rides the fastest bike in the group  not that it matters much.

"I still don't get it. What's wrong with anyone liking their own bike more than someone else's? Did anyone actually read Mac's posts?"

Certainly. I think he was just venting a bit, however there are plenty of motorcycle snobs out there that do take things a bit too far, i.e., having little or no respect for the choices of others.;)

Harleys

Yes Phil, I just wanted to vent a bit, just getting it off my chest and posting it here.
My bike group is on Facebook too , and today one of the Harley guys said to a Honda VTX 1800 owner in my group that he needs to "upgrade" to a Harley.
It is just little s**t like that I am talking about.
The VTX 1800 this Harley guy is talking about is a gorgeous bike and can spin circles around the "Ultra Classic"
Every Tom, *****and Harry has a " Harley"
Canberra, everyone certainly has the right to like their bike, but boasting and bragging on and on is too much.
There , I just vented off more steam.:p
