I just came across an interesting difference in the late model Roadsters compared to earlier Standards and Classics, as well as the early Roadsters. More compression.

The block is decked .010 inches, the head gasket is now thinner (0.022 in.), and the piston is a different manufacturer, but has the same 22.2cc dish.

This means that the late model Roadsters have a static compression ratio of 8.568:1, compared to 8.407:1 for the older model bikes. Not huge, but better for squish (piston/head clearance).
