Improving the sound of a Rocket

What kind of noise are you looking for. Exhaust is the obvious answer but there's also the 3x K&N for the intake. I have Preds and have been told it sounds like a mix of V8 rumble and Ferrari revyness an odd combo to be sure

Any other exhaust will improve sound. I have had TORs with the cat by-pass and they sounded good. Kind of a raspy, 3 cylinder sound, but it was pretty cool.

Then I heard a Jardine system on Britman's bike, and I HAD to have them. At idle and low RPMs it is just what the big motor on the Rocket should sound like. You can feel it in your chest at idle. Higher RPMs is more of a 3 cylinder wail.. I have had them for a few years now and they just make the bike right. The Jardines can sound a little too loud for some. But pull into your local bike night, and you realize that they are not loud.. lol. They can also kind of resonate in a full face helmet that can be annoying, but I am so used to it that it doesn't bother me anymore. I still wouldn't go back..

D&D is the least expensive route to go. I was going to go that route at one point, but never did. I have never heard them, but others say they sound similar to the TORs.

I LOVE the look of the Zard muffler, but it's rediculously expensive.

Someone will probably mention Predators because they have them and are proud of them, however, they were only hand made by a forum member and he doesn't make them anymore.

Carpenter Racing just came out with a complete system. They are pricey as well, but if I didn't already have my Jardines, I would see about going this route..

I just put on a set of Jardines last night and I must say that the low RPM Rumble is impressive. I just got the set for my 07 Classic for $890.00 plus free shipping. I would say that it was worth it.

If you look around you can find some good deals on exhaust.

Hermys.Com has an estore link where you can find the TOR with Cat bypass for $800.00 Total and if you do a search for the D&D you can find them for just under $500.00

There are other options out there and they are usually a bit more in price.

Also check the forums to see what people think of the different types of exhaust. I liked the look of the Zard exhaust but then I noticed that a lot of people stated loss of power and excessive heat at the foot area.

The Jards dont make noise, they pulsate. It makes my old shed vibrate and the chickens next door stop laying.
Of course there is also the HP and torque;)

I put the Jardines on, and everyone says the bike has a very distinctive sound. And while on a ride for the Wounded Warriors last week I could not help myself. I just had to show off for the Harley crowd when my group was leaving one of the stops.
I told the Mrs. to hand on, brought the front wheel up nice and high, hit second hard when it came back down, and then had to back off as I was catching up to the other bikes. When we got to the stop light the guy that was at the back of the group said he thought he was hearing thunder, then realized it was just me coming up behind him... said he loved the way the bike sounded. :D

Just love the power of this bike.
