09 Tourer
Picked up my first R3 and it is a 09 R3T with 8500 miles. Home is currently Colorado.

My first motorcycle ever was a 08 Speed Triple (perfect for a beginner). When I walked into the dealership to sign all the paperwork for it, I saw an 09 R3T and I always wanted one ever since.

After life changing events I did a 4100 mile solo trip on my stock 22 speedmaster to Myrtle Beach for bike week. After that trip I decided that more trips like that need to happen, but not on the speedmaster.

So here we are....

Now I will ask if anyone has " a must do" upgrade list for these. I saw that I do need to be careful because the tourer parts are not always interchangeable with other R3 models of that year. Was a dirty diesel tech for years and want to get these "must do" upgrades done while winter is here. I will be taking it on a nice long ride come March. The Grand Canyon whole outer rim, Sedona and Zion parks are the destinations. When I took the Speedmaster on the 4100 mile trip, I averaged around 400-500 miles a day with no wind screen. I love long days in the saddle. So really looking for the things from the seasoned owners that made you think "oh I regret that i didnt do this sooner." Mods.

As I also own a Touring Rocket, I don't want you falling into the mis named downfall.... The bike you have pictured in the first post is a "Touring"
Its frame and electrical system is different than all other Rockets, ie: Standards, Classics, Tourer, Roadster.....The easiest way to clarify a Touring from all others is that a Touring has only 1 headlight.....and Hard bags from the factory....Welcome from the most laid back group of the Rocket lineup, along with the most comfortable if your 6' or taller...Norm

Thats a good piece of info to know after I've been looking through these forums for information. Happen to know if there is PDF repair manuals for the R3T-ing since there a significant difference from all the other models?

The Engine/Transmission is totally the same, However the ECM on the Touring is different, Programed to only have approx 85HP but with slightly higher tq figures...You can reprogram your ECM to instantly give you 30 more HP( wich will give your throttle a bit more snap) at the expemse of passenger comfort (more abrupt acceleration) Without a full Dyno tune you will not be able to retune a Touring to the 146HP rating of the 2 headlight models, just so that you are aware of the difference.....
