I MET A GUY VISITING FROM SYDNY SATURDAY

I met a guy in his 30's who is a banker visiting from Sydney Australia last Saturday. Nice guy. But man, you folks speak English but I had one hell of a time understanding him! I know I don't hear worth a sh++, but his accent was really hard to keep up with in the 30 minute conversation I had with him. He was in the Los Angeles area on business and I just happened onto him out in the desert near me riding with his buddy in an off road vehicle.

Down here in Oz we don't "happen onto" anyone - there's your problem right there

LOL....... I lived in the States for a few years in the mid 80's and the biggest problem was they reckon we talk to fast and with the accent they couldn't understand us

You think a New York or Texan accent is easy for us to understand .. two way street mate .

Oh yea. I have a hard time understanding the southern accent myself.

After a few Crocodile Dundee movies I was better able to understand. "At's noot a nooif, he'as a nooif"

Its nothing to do with him being Australian. It's just that he's a banker.

Wait till you hear am Mexican speaking English!

I was able to understand Speedy Gonzales on the cartoons .. reckon i'll manage Lupe.
