Or even more useful a gag, self imposed, will often prevent the need for a mouth guard. But don't wear the red rubber ball type, everyone will take you for a 'Gimp' and someone will sure as hell want to screw you!

No I was thinking more like duct tape to keep someone's mouth shut, perhaps a passenger.Or even more useful a gag, self imposed, will often prevent the need for a mouth guard.
