how far do you reckon it's safe to run on fix-a-flat? Woke up this morning to a nearly flat back tire. Gas station didn't have air, but had a can of fixaflat. Put it in, 60 miles later found air. Seemed to be holding well. Cut my trip short and am headed home. But still have 300 miles to go? I'll keep an eye on it, but I think it should be safe to get home. Any words from the sage one's on here?

mate, if the balance is ok and you're holding pressure, the gunk will hold till the tyre wears out. expect to pay a bit more when you swap your tyre out though as you need to clean the rim properly before you fit a new tyre

It will probably make it depending on whats caused the puncture. If you can plug it with a radial plug you can run her like you stole her. If your on a Metzler keep a eye on it as the side walls are so stiff you might not notice it loosing air. When mine blew I ran her 15 to 20 miles until a gas station came along. if it weren't for the little more tread noise I would not have realized it had a whole in it large enough that it took 4 plugs to slow the leak down enough to get her home. Be safe if your worried about it you can do what I did when I lost the cobra. Have them put a car tire on it until you get home then use it to start the burn pile

Thanks guys! I'm running the bridgy. Just put new one on a month ago. Tough to turn I by myself to find the puncture. I'm loosing 3-4 psi every hr of riding so pretty sure she'll get me home now. I'll pull it there and take it to my buddy's tire shop.

I have run patches before but i think anout them every time i get on my bike, in fact a few weeks back in Arizona the Harkey picked up a nail, tire was good but i did not wanted to put @HansO in danger, we replaced it and peace of mind returned, if it was me i would replace it

I will eventually replace, but not an option for now. The excedra is not available in Europe and it takes 4-6 weeks to ship. I'm not loosing my last six weeks of riding in Europe waiting on a tire
@warp9.9 its funny you mentioned the car tire. When I walked up to it this morning it looked like a poorly inflated car tire I doubt that was an option here anyway. I don't think there's any amount of money you could give a French (or German) shop that would convince them to put a car tire on a motorcycle! They'd probably loose their license. There's no way it would pass inspection here and therefore be a heap ton of trouble if you were involved in an accident. At fault or not.
@ponters looks like no luck. Consistently lost 3-4 psi all the way home was hoping it'd seal and I wouldn't have to mess with plugging here.
I made it home safe though and that's what matters. Thanks for the help guys!

check the valve stem Mike, I have had valves fail and slowly deflate the tyre. , they sometimes get a small perforation from the being pushed sideways when you check the pressure ,I always get new valve stems installed at each tyre change costs bugger all but saves the drama.
