how do I tell if it's a gel seat

It's got the Triumph part number A9701164 and it's got a matt rubbery top to it with dark grey leatherette side panels. It's a dual seat but I have a gel seat for a kawasaki versys and the gel makes it very heavy whereas this one is not

The solo one is more rubbery than OE & is much kinder on the arse:whistle::nopity:

According to the Triumph website, the dual gel seat for the roadster is 9701140 and for the Touring is 9701143.

sorry Owl - I should have said - I'd checked up on all the numbers and couldn't get anything solid on the one that is attached to the underside of the seat.

I had a pillon gel seat and it was colored like you stated........ I would say that yours is a gel seat.
