hi there was considering doing HID light conversion there apears to be many benefits like around half the current draw which would give the alternator an easier time etc ,is there enough room in the lamps behind the bulbs as the connectors look quite bulky ,any one got the t shirt
I don't have HIDS. but I do have headlight modulators that are installed in my headlight buckets. It is very tight with the connections; there is not a whole lot of room behind the reflective bulb shield for sure... I had a difficult time reassembling everything and getting the modulators and electrical connectors sandwiched between the reflective shields and the back of the headlight buckets.
I got a set that were sold online supposedly as plug and play for the rocket. My hole!
required hole sawing and cables were too short. The ballasts were small but I never tried if they fit inside the headlight casing. Just sold the kit on.
Ballasts that I have seen online would likely not fit onside the Rocket's headlight bucket housing(s). Even if so; not an optimum place for them; they generate heat and need to sink it off somewhere else.
Hey Berrypicker; do you have a link or a pic of the HID kit you are considering (if any)?
re lighting
there are various kits on ebay selling for around 40 pounds sterling ac ballast type, hole sawing the light shells wouldnt be such a big deal or mounting the ballasts externaly only thing that is of concern is how water would affect the connections given the high voltages used ,might just settle for a pair of piaa rally bulbs ,<check them out expensive >but surelly better than joe lucas prince of darkness h4s
Don't you need to add a proper HID lens, reflector, and front glass of the light housing (dunno what it's called) to have properly calibrated HID lights?
