Hey y'all . . Was told to start a new thread so here goes

Heard tell, if'n you ride a motorcycle then you must ride a rocket al least once in your life...I smile thinking about my first ride...

That exactly what I was thinking. I remember when I was sixteen and snuck me Uncle's 650 Bonnie out for a street ride. I am kinda getting that feeling now in anticipation of checking out the Rocket.

You will learn to to park it so you can get it out, or you will bring your strapping 17 year old nephew to push when necessary! When I have my nephew I don't care how I park for he thinks it a treat to push us back out. Today I rode a spooky sportster that I though I was going to get killed on, and then I took my Intruder out and locked the rear brake so bad I had to cut the hose to bleed it off. I really want to ride my Rocket tomorrow. And I will, the others just restore some perspective. You will sell your Road Star, or you might even give it away!

While it has a lot of visual impact, its deceptively fast and agile. You're going to be fast on an R3 in every situation than on the Roadstar, but you need to re-calibrate how you ride to get fast. It rides differently than everything else.

Seems that the R3 will require more aggressive handling. My roadstar is so well balanced that at 65, I can lock the throttle and ride hands off for 20 minutes. Not something I recommend but mine does it easily. When I am on a Harley, it is just not that balanced.

That's a bit harsh. I like how the roadstars look but have never ridden one. I love motorcycles. All motorcycles. The R3 is stupid fast and takes a lot more advanced riding technique than the Harley did. I have more than 8000 miles on my R3T and still learn more all the time. On my last bike, a 2011 Road Glide Ultra riding was mostly counterstear. On my R3T. I am counterstearing, pressing with my outside knee and pushing down on the inside floorboard and control power and braking with rpm speed. I love this bike.

I find when I'm settled into my ride that I feel the shoulders drop, I relax and take big lung fulls of air an even lean back and look to the heavens thoroughly enjoying the experience. Its not about getting to where I'm headed to, but rather soaking up the ride....this bike does that to you....well at least me!

Because of the expertise and knowledgeable members on this forum, this site is where all the misfit toys show up. Twelve years owning my Rocket with no problems except normal wear and tear with tires and a idle recall problem Triumph fixed.. ;)
