weather

today's a day i wish i took the car ....

this morning i used my busa to go & pay a few bills & fill it up while i was out taking my time as the roads were a bit frosty .

at lunch time i thought i'd take my rocket for a 30 ml round trip to pay another bill & give it a run & top it up ... i wish i didn't bother !

i had all my winter gear on & fk was it cold
half way home at traffic lights i had 1 hand on the rocker cover & 1 hand on the exhaust as my fingers were stinging with the cold & loosing the feeling in them !

once home after 30 mins i got the hose out to wash the grit of the bikes . when kneeling on the ground to wash under the engine my knee stuck to the ground as the water was freezing when it hit the ground !

i washed the busa 1st then the rocket . the discs on the rocket where freezing while i'm washing them it was that cold

once i'd washed both bikes i went in to my house to get a t towel to dry them well i wasn't fast enough the busa was sold ice & i barely managed to get the rocket dry'd before it froze completely !

10 mins later i'm putting the bikes away , the rockets brake lever had froze :)

so although i love bikes today is def a day i should of used my car :)

Just have one thing to sat about that
Move To Australia

i'm not so sure if Australia is for me after watching underbelly :D
that is based in the cross Sydney and I am sure there would not be a city anywhere in the world that does not have a similar district, most of Auss is fantastic and relatively crime free and every second person isn't carrying a gun :)

i couldn't help myself saying that :)

it's prob much the same here although i never see anything going on :)

hanso if i read right i noticed you use a car tyre , how do you find it ?

I love it, better grip much safer in the twisties but if you considering one dont go for the Toyo Proxes 1R they are to soft in the sidewalls I run a Fedral 595 I believe the tyre of choice over your side of the pond is Rinken Raptor ( I may have mis spelled that) but I'm sure someone will correct it if I am wrong) :D

this is a road i drive on a lot

Stockiemuir - Yamaha R1 - YouTube

it's a 60 mph limit although many will do up to 150 mph on it .

when you say twisties are your bends as sharp as the bends on the youtube link & are the roads as narrow ?

once i'm used to the rocket i'd prob travel between 50mph & 100mph on that road .

could you travel at those speeds with the car tyre once your used to it on that road ?

Stuart ... your f#ckin knee stuck to the ground it was so cold  !!!! For f#cks sake Jimmy get out of there !!! Don't worry about Underbelly , it's all a load of crap .. Your clutch lever froze solid  !!!! Car tyre .. you need a set of snow chains mate :D !!!

Hi Stuart glad to see another Roadster taking to the roads here! I've done nearly 20000m on mine now and never been south of the border. Only seen two other matt black ones around though in two years. You'll love it once you get out on empty roads but not today its minus 2C here in Perthshire brrr so mine's staying in the shed (again)

and you can do track days on it - I've had mine round Knockhill but it costs a lot in tyres. I'm running Avon Cobras and never had any probs . The power's so smooth from tickover it's a *****cat if you're on these greasy gravelly roads laced with mud, but remember the ABS cuts off at 20mph so don't grab a handful of front brake below that or you'll be on yer ear! And if you need to lose speed fast in a bend, as I did till I got used to the weight, hit the rear brake not the front, it seems to settle down into the corner just fine. Trail braking and countersteering will get you out of most of those " O Sh*t" moments but you'll have to hang off to carry corner speed. or all 3 :D

Maybe see you on the Oban road one day
