Today I got around to doing a lot of big items I needed to accomplish in two of my aluminum bldgs., weight bench almost ready to go and a lot of stuff put away on new shelves I put together.

I took two pictures of the heated grip controller and was hoping if some of you who had this installed had a similar set up (never saw the controller in the past...riding a Harley or Thunderbird or something...) or has Triumph changed the design. I ask because I have heard from some on this site that the heated grips were not a good buy as they usually broke or melted something.

Here are the pics:

And now a close up:

So if this is a new design I would like to know.

Also tried to put my Kuryakin concave eclipse mirrors on today but it appears I may need some spacers and the top part of where the mirror goes in is at an angle and I may have to just keep the stock mirrors if I can't figure a way around that.

Using the heated grips on the R3T will cause the plastic piece that holds the throttle cable end to become brittle and break. When that happens it will be just like you broke the throttle cable. If you're going to use the grips just make sure you have a way to ride the bike without a functioning throttle cable.

Harry, looking at the pics I posted...is this the same controller you have?

That's looks like the same controller I had on my r3t
And from what I remember only the r3t had problems with the heated grips I had replace mine once a year

Dennis: have a look at these web sites to see if they might aid in solving your morror problem:

I can only second the above comments mine broke up a moutain 45 miles from nowhere ...... make sure you have ducktape and cable ties with you when out and about.......just in case

Does anyone have any pics of these type of repairs so that if it does happen to me I can make sure I have an "emergency" kit to fix it? If it does it once I'll do what Harry did. Does anyone have any recommendations of a type of heated grip that works for them?

I have pix on here somewhere on how I fixed mine the first time it broke I think I listed it as broken grip or something similar if I get time I will see if I can find it and repost it

I have never had mine break but I always carry my original one with me just incase. It would be an easy fix if it broke out on the road.
