Heat Wrapping Headers?

I thinking about heat wrapping the headers to decrease heat on my right leg on hot days in stop and go traffic. From looking at past threads it appears several have tried this and some have removed it due to heat problems further down stream (starter and battery problems from the cross-over or cat box radiating the extra heat that wasn't allowed to radiate from the headers). I haven't seen any recent threads about this and I just wondering from those of you who have run with this what your long-term opinion is.

Thanks for any input!

interesting question.I have been wondering about wrapping my headers under the heat shields on my Predators, but if it simply transfers the heat somewhere where it will create problems ,I may have to give the idea away.

..I wrapped my 1st set of preds..left the heat shields off..was better with wrap than shields..those mfr's were hawt I tell ya..now my second set of preds with the double walled shields is good to go..

I wrapped my preds, then put the shields on top of the wrap... better then before, but still hot, only really notice it cause my work pants are thin....

No heat issues at all with my custom pipes...ceramic coated inside & out + shields & tucked tight in to the bike. honda 007.JPG
