I guess, if its a mono shock, it should be relatively simple to jack it up. Matt paint job may change the perspective. The tank makes it look small IMO. maybe we associate big with the cruiser style of bike. The R3R does not have the characteristics of a cruiser and hence we (I) are seeing it as a street bike (speed triple) rather than a larger muscle/cruiser bike. We won't get one in local dealer for another 2 weeks, so I'm left to speculate

In the UK we had a car called the Ford Capri - it was loved by many, then they ceased production. It was replaced by the so called updated version Ford Probe - never really took off. In my opinion the R3 and R3R are only linked by the name Rocket. It is a shame that they used the Rocket name as it is far removed from the original. Again only my opinion and not probably one of the masses..

I agree in part but the Rocket has been around since 2005 and not much was done to change the looks or performance other that in 2011 (?). It had to evolve or die out plain and simple. Now some like the direction and some don't but it is a Rocket 3 just a newer direction. If they would have made it look like say my 2014 Rocket then it wouldn't have this kind of 'excitement or anticipation' some of us have and we wouldn't be talking about it(and I love my 2014 Rocket). Not much excitement about the 2018 Rocket was there :sleep:. I guess in a few months we will all be closer to being on the same page about the new Rocket good or bad.

Triumph could have kept the legacy/Classic look and feel and added the tech to satisfy the tech lovers. Brake and suspension upgrades would have changed the ride without compromising the presence. Weight could have been reduced with carbon, gearbox could have been changed. I initially thought it was a bold move by Triumph. But as I look around, I now see it as a safe move, basically taking the features of other bikes that riders like and sticking them together. sadly when next to a modded classic/roadster. Its nothing special. And if next to a vmax1700 it lacks attitude and power. TFC? Maybe if it had a supercharger or turbo it would be worth the extra.
