i am going to have the valves adjusted and have them check out the cam chain and gears while its a aprt. bike has 15k on it and it starting to make a little noise. dealer mechanic is top notch and is aware of all these issues. while its in there and a part i was thinking of heavier clutch springs. good idea or no? also i cannot find any part numbers or place to get them from. if its a good idea where could i get them and what should i get. thanks

Heavier clutch springs? Are you having trouble with the stock clutch? Going FI? Doing something that will put you outside the required spec of the stock springs?

I dunno, I sort of have the opinion that if it aint broke, don't fix it.

no hp mods, just feels a little weak and figure if its coming apart why not upgrade it a lil

FTL40 if you have a 05 you could have the old style pressure plate so it hard to actually tell you what to do.
If it is the older style it will look like this

and has a needle stlye thruts bearing with this style lifter piece

Triumph changed these in 06 but I can see where there might be some 05 that have the upgraded pressure plate which looks like this

and has a roller bearing like the one around this lifter piece

these pictures were grabbed from this site I believe they were Ty's but some I have I got from Walt and Les.

anyway the lifter piece has been superceded this year by this

below is a picture of the new and the one it replaced newest on top

if your clutch feels week and you think its the springs I would just order a new set if I was not adding any HP to the bike. You can add a .010 shim between the springs and the washer that bolts up to the spring. this will add 5 lbs. of pressure to the springs.
Barrnett makes springs that are 15% stronger then stock.

Of course you must realise if you clutch is slipping it might be adjusted wrong which the Tech can check and see if the fibers are worn but you might have to pay some labor on it. the clutch free play which you can check is below.

there is more that can be done to stiffen the clutch up but if your not adding HP I would just change the springs to a new stock set. But make sure the Tech looks at it as you would have to pay 4 hours of labor to have it taken back apart. plus oil and cover gasket if needed.
Maybe you can define what you mean by feels weak a little more!

There might be something to that...the "upgrade kit" includes stronger springs...Triumph must have realized something was amiss and upped the force. 8)

gR3yWolf I just went thru the box my upgrade kit came in on the 4th now new clutch parts. Maybe their is a difference on the older Rockets as Mine is a 06 hopefully she'll be back together by the end of the week so I can make the 775 mile round trip to Baxters to retrieve her. Daytona will be on for me. and I also get to bring back a surprise with the beastie.
