I have about 15000 miles on my R3C now and yesterday trying to get back into Illinois from Wisconsin I was again amazed at how fast my bike goes from 50 to 100 to 50 gettin thru traffic, but, I noticed the engine is losing it's purr around 42-4500 rpm and it starts sounding mechanical. As sarcastic as that reads to me it's new for MY bike. Amsoil 20-50 1500 miles ago 5 quarts worth. A tick on 1 valve is becoming pronounced and there's a noise almost like a playing card against a bicycle spoke  After 6 years of harleys I can't help but think this bike is to good to be true. For a bike engine its pretty quiet still, just wondering if i'm killing her or just hearing normal wear in.

hi
an exhaust leak might sound like playing cards. leaks on the exhaust manifold usually sound worst when they are cold. might check for loose exhaust bolts. listen when its cold just give it a quick little rev. the other noise you need to describe it better.
the more info the better we can help.

These bikes take more than 5 quarts of oil, so that's where I'd begin to look at the cause of those "mechanical" sounds.;) Check your oil level with the bike perfectly upright!

I have 4000mi since I bought her 2 mos ago, The oil reads full and I did drain all 3 plugs, and the symptom does improve some when it warms and I also considered an exhaust so thats where i'll start,I thoight a bit heavier oil visc in the summer with all the 2up riding we do might be practical. and thanks again for replies on this site prompt and useful.
