names Doug, currently ride a softy from the sunshine coast in qld.au, cant think of much else to say other than looking/considering jumping ship to a rocket (or tiger - having a beggar of a time in this actually) so thought I'd jump in & try for some feedback from you blokes (& sheilas of course). keep smiling aye

G'day and welcome Doug ... understand your dilemma .. made the mistake of test riding (for the 2nd time ) the 1200 Explorer. Had my RIII for nearly five years ( longest I've ever owned a bike ) and done 110,000 klms on it. Really love my RIII and my Speed Triple as well. Sitting downstairs and remembering all the great rides I've done on my Rocket is not the way to prepare for trading it in that's for sure...hahaha. If I could justify/afford both the RIII and the TREX it would not be such a problem .. anyway whichever way you go you will end up with a better bike than a Softail that's for sure .
Welcome aboard. Tough call; very different rides. Try to get both, but if not get the one that will suit you most of the time. Ride a Rocket and it will be hard to pass up. Another Queenslander!!!!!!!
Welcome aboard Doug. Having never owned a Harley I cannot comment other than I enjoy riding my Rocket so much that I don't think I could ever part with it. The other bikes hardly get ridden enough.
Thinking back road riding is going to be the only way a blokes going to hang onto a licence. Buttering us up in preparation to handing over the 'speed camera industry" to private operators I reckon. Talk about cops being need on the front line , not spending all day sitting in a van on the side of the road ..blah,blah,blah. Imagine how f#ckin sneaky private operators would be if they got a 10% whack of the fines. Of course I could ride at the speed limit .. but can't really see that being an option
thanks one & all, pretty well done deal in my mind, taking time off work next wkend to go home (work away) & do some test riding on a r3r the good wife put a holding dep on for me... here's to good things aye
