Welcome, Captain Dave, from Cow-rona California. Moo.

Click on this thread, near the bottom Rkt3 suggests a solution:

Maybe you'll want to PM him to get more details, like, for instance, which way to bend it.

Happy riding!!

Hello mate, when my light comes on i.ve still got two gallons in the tank (10 litres)
I see you are being well looked after by Triumph
That rep sounds like a real wanker

Dave most of the folks on this forum have a wonky fuel gauge from the posts i've read. I can live with mine as is, when the light comes on i just stop for a smoke and know i've got 60 miles to gas up

Ignore mine , comes on at 100 ish miles , still has plenty of fuel . The bike I run with fill up at around 100 anyway so always top up .

Not met anyone whose fuel gauge works right yet thank god for Triumph quality control. Its nice to see the firm looking after its customers.Born for fun loyal to none. :shock:Mine comes on at about 120miles but at least it gives me plenty of time to find a petrol station. You wouldnt want to push the bastard far.

Dave, I too had the same issue on my 06 Classic. Don't have the gage but the light came on at approximately 52 miles. I thought possibly that if I installed the fuel gage it would be more accurate --- until I found out on this site that the gage and the light do use the same sending unit, therefore, the gage would have also been useless. I simply used the tripmeter as a reference. I "tolerated" this for almost a year and was about ready to disconnect the **** thing when I also heard that if disconnected, it screwed the computer up. Rather than risking this, I took it back to the dealer and demanded the sending unit be replaced which they did. Low fuel light now comes between 150 - 155 miles. There is an adjustment that can be made and I contemplated doing it myself but started thinking that if I paid that much for the bike, they should fix the problem. The dealer I bought mine from in Indianapolis, Ind (Indy Triumph) has been a real pleasure to deal with. I have absolutely no outstanding issues with their service department - very professional. Recently had the 10,000 mile check done and was very satisfied with the service. The bike has performed superbly since day one (other than the low fuel light problem). I think the reason some dealers don't want to fix this issue is that it does take time (probably more that Triumph allows). Only a thought.

I wouldn't mind if the light came on early,... Mine only registers 1/3 tank when full and within 60mi the low fuel light comes on and the gage drops to empty by 80mi... Dealer sorting it out..

Dave, have a look at the pictures on this thread..............

Shows a cutaway tank, and you can see the mechanism clearly.

My light used to come on way too early, and the guage, when fitted, was similarly out. Took it back to the dealer who took half an hour to bend the float arm until it read properly.

And welcome to the forum.

Fuel gauge

Dave, my readings were about the same as yours. Went on a Triumph factory visit and asked the question about why the fuel light and gauge were not accurate. The answer I got from the technical dept. was
"Yes they are a bit of a joke on the Rocket3 arn't they". I would not be allowed to print the rest of the conversation.

Regards
Alan
