Front Tire Choices

i might be able to road test one of those in a couple of months

I've never varied from the factory recommended 42/42 psi recommendation from the factory. for the 2.5 liter R3.
Never a wobble, good wear on the stock Avons, which handle very well, so I'm a stock guy all the way!
My assumption is that the Triumph engineers have done more research into the tire considerations than any of us!

I believe the new official tire for the 2.5 Rockets is the Cruistec, was Avons. They used to promote Castrol with their bikes, them Mobil 1, and now.... I don't even know.

These official brands are business relationships between various companies and Triumph. Not sure if you came to the 2.5 from the 2.3 models, but we modified the he11 out of those bikes and not for the worse. Also, with both, the stock tunes suck. If you haven't tried the Penner Tune you are missing the near full potential of the stock bike. The engineers dumbed it down so as not to frighten previous Harley riders .

Seriously, there are a lot of things you can do that veer away from stock that will not only not hurt your bike, but make it perform and handle much better.

For sure, its just an arrangement the factories come to with different manufacturers. My KTM's have Motorex stickers on the clutch covers. But I'm pretty sure I'd run any oil of similar quality and specs without a worry.

I agree with improvements while veering away from stock. For me, after many trials and tribulations, my favorite tire combo is Excedra Max on the rear and Michelin Commander III in 130/80/17 (except for Carpenter bike with BST carbon wheel which is 130/70/18) on the front. I have been running this combo for several years on the 2.3's and still do and recently installed on the 2.5 and it is a vast improvement over stock. I will not be going back to 150 on the front. It may not work for everyone but don't be scared to try it.

Are there any specific changes in rider profile or handling you can speak to? I have almost 10k on my avons and I’m going to have to get new tires soon so I’m really torn on which way to go since avons aren’t an option any more.

I have never been a fan of the Avon's. I changed rear first and noticed a definite improvement in handling and turn in and then changed the front and even more improved handling and turn in. The front never feels twitchy or unstable whereas with the Avon's I would experience front end wobble on 2.3's and 2.5. I realize some people are big fans of Avon but this is just my experience.

So what brand of tires have you tried
