Dont like the look of the tread pattern on the bridgy and I don't want a higher profile rear . I won't mix breeds or go darkside do the only other option is Avon . I hear that they are not that Much better and I can get Metz cheaper at Brisbane Motercycle tires. So until I can get Avons at the same price or someone comes up with an alternative I'm sticking to the Metz they handle ok just wear quick is all

why are you against the higher profile, it actualy will improve the steering
(only slightly) as it shortens the rake
hanso, which model Shinko?

the Shinko Journey looks like an interesting option.

Shinko 757 Journey Touring Radial Front Tires - Compacc

i just put on a Bridgestone Excedra 701 but too soon to give opinion, other than it feels better than the Metz from the get-go.

(also running Bridgestone Excedra Max on rear)
Yes that is the One the Guy who put me onto the SHinko is an exracer who sells tyres to the racers at the International National BikeRace's I Marshal at and he was hoirrified at me running the darkside and suggested that the Shinko 757 on the front with the Bridgstone Rear was the best option this is back over 1 1/2 years ago(and I mentioned it in one of my friendly (not) chats with Art and Phil here and on the other site)there was a guy running one a brigdestone on the Tassie Salvo but was not impressed with it in the wet, since then Bridgstone has released the Max which I might try ,haven't decided yet but at least I have an Open Mind unlike these guys (I won't mention the aussie guys names eh richard and Mitch oop's it sliped out) that have never tried a Darside and are not prepared to you guys don't know what you are missing
You're right Hanso. Metz was fine when it was new but seemed to go from good to bad to complete crap in no time. Any tyre is bad when it's worn out but Avon seemed to hang on much longer and only go bad right at the end. The Bridgy is going just fine for now. Ask me once it's got 8K or more on it. If it doesn't wear well I'll give Shinko a go or go back to the Avon, but never Metz.

I agree Mitch that the Bridgy tread isn't particularly pretty but it throws water out to the side better than anything I've ever had on any bike and handles a good as any. Depends what you want I guess.
I agree the trye look a bit off in pictures but having seen it on both Richardes and The Kiwis now they don't look to bad it will be interesting to see how they wear
If the bridgy was a 50 series I'd be all over it . I may try a Avon on the back in a few weeks which goes against my mixing breeds thing and if I like it I'll change the front next time but I wish Bridgestone would make a 50 instead of a 55 .

I think you would be surprised at the bridgy as I doubt you would even notice the hieght difference and You will get better lean angle the thing that has me thinking about the brigdy is the very large contact patch compred to the Metz

Go shinko put 1 on it seems fine and was 100 dollars cheaper the any others . done over 3000 km on it and it looks fine to my untrained eye
you will love it I am rapt with mine this is my third one now
Plus Hamso and Richard the black bikes always wear tires quicker cos they have more power lol no no you got it wrong again young Wiper Sniper, they wear the tyres faster because you have to brake later going into the corner to try a catch the red and every other coloured ones. oh you know why they make more black ones because they reserve the faster motors for the coloured ones because only real men who don't have to hide behind black can handle all the extra power

Sorry for the diversion onto rear tyres in this front tyre thread but.....
I'd maybe try a car tyre IF there wasn't the option of the Bridgestone. The Avon was overall a better proposition than the Metz but not "great" because it was skittish in the wet and popped like a balloon if it got punctured. So far the Bridgestone is everything I wanted from a rear tyre so I'm sticking with it.

If the only thing you have against it, Mitch, is the profile, you should give it a go because your bike, more than most (with its extra power) will benefit from the taller gearing plus you get the ride, handling and longevity benefits. It's also better looking than either Metz or Avon, IMO. It's the front (701) that's not as pretty as the others but a very efficient tread pattern all the same.

would it be safe to run the bridgestone on the back with the new metz i have up front? im a lil worried about mixing tires is all

Rang Brisbane motor cycle tires and they wont fit a exedra max to a rocket
said its not meant for the rocket and his insurence wouldnt cover him if i have an accident due to him fitting the wrong tire.

Just gave Bridgestone Australia a call at there sales centre in strathpine and they said the Exedramax 240/55/16 is fine to install on a rocket so i will be giving one a go as soon as i can find a dealer:cool:

Brisbane Motorcycle Tyres sound like a bunch of wankers. They're the same speed and load rating as Metz and Avon so they're talking through their arse.

Yeah I think he pushes the Metz because he is a Metz dealer . I will be trying the bridgy just gotta ring around till I find someone who stocks them
