Front end vibration and wobble fixed (Long story)

Never checked the headstock bearing? did they deduct anything for not checking it, service manager giving you the run a round time to look for a new place to take your bike.

I concur. I think the shop I took mine to made the same error, checked for play, found none and didn't bother pulling off the top triple tree.

Whoever devised the "checks" Triumph is teaching missed the point about "Test ride the bike" because a test ride on mine or @RKTNMYPKT Rockets would have revealed the problem instantly to a proficient mechanic.

This is really a good shop, and aside from a few hiccups here and there they have treated me a good as can be expected.

The Service manager did apologize and told me they were going to revise the way they perform the checks in the future. As far as test rides go my problem had not gotten as bad as @Claviger's had, so unless he removed his hands from the bars during the test ride he probably would not have noticed it.

My dealer told me "Triumph said we can't condone riding with no hands, or ask our techs to do that to check for your problem. If it starts to wobble with your hands on the bars, then we can fix it under warranty."

They also wont test ride in the rain, after working on my bike Saturday he said he wasnt allowed to test ride it.

In the manual; it looks like the bearings are tapered and the stem nut is hex! Huzza!

This spring I cracked the plastic bearing cage on my Voyager while greasing them. And decided to replace the ball bearings with tapered bearings.
Trying to accomplish the torque requirements for 'seating' the bearings in the MaKaw manual was useless with the slotted stem nut.

The dealer should have done you right.
But, it doesn't look like too difficult of 'Rocket surgery'.

It was downhill from then ...lets just say we didn't part as friends

Even a sightly worn rear tire will cause the front end to wobble if you take your hands off the bars everyone looks at the front end BUT the rear end can be the cause most of the time

Sounds like a reputable shop - no test rides in the rain, take no chances with hands off the bars. If a test ride is needed, that's the kind of attitude I'd want rather than having Captain Reckless hop on and blast off and crash the bike.
