One of my friends who’s I’d classify as an expert rider had a strange crash.

At 130 AM, my friend was Riding with a recently made acquaintance, he was following the guy. A car pulled out in front of them, a little close, and the new friend panicked and slammed into my friend, sending him flying.

Bike frame broken in half, total loss. Broken clavicle, road rash, broken foot, dislocated shoulder, cracked ribs.

Then he finds out the new acquaintance hadn’t ridden in 5 years and has impaired night vision...

Sadly my friend had only had the bike for a week before this happened.

Just though I’d share, don’t get complacent, something stupid like that can bring anyone down.

Going to ride up and bring some beers Sunday and commiserate his dead GSXR 1000 with him lol.

A good friend of mine, passionate lifelong rider, gave it up,due to macular degeneration, always says he wants to ride again, but I offered to lend him one for a ride, he says, no, I'm just dreaming, I know I'm not safe to ride. I give him credit. Hope your friend heals quick.

Very best wishes to your friend, Rob!
I be a little confused about "he was following the guy" yet "the new friend panicked and slammed into your friend".
Sure hope the new friend and your friend were insured . . .

Ride your own ride. Give yourself plenty of room for others errors whether that be in front or behind you and always have a escape route. Been there, done that.

We will. Just thought it was an odd way to go down, similar to Hans0's very odd crash in that neither really had any say in the event.
