For Norton enthusiasts

Hoping to have this 520 x-ring conversion finished ready for my Mods and Rockers event this weekend.

I'm curious as to why you are using the 520 chain. We used 530 standards on our 650 Triumphs. We used to buy it in bulk; logging chain. Those were the days. To oil it we'd remove the chain, dip it in a bucket of oil and then hang it over night for the excess to run off. I tried an O ring 530 once but it was too large for the chain guard, and perhaps I just answered my question.

520 is a narrower chain Mike.
In theory it takes less power to drive.

I went the opposite direction, still a 520 but a Monster RK O Ring chain, sure it may suck a little power, but in 30 years of running the Stroker Engine, I've only replaced it 3 times.

Oh my, look at the dust on that chain !
The Cleaning Lady (who comes in to do the house) is going to get a rev up !

The bike sits in the lounge.

You did answer your own question . The 520 x-ring lasts many times longer with very little maintenance. A 530 is physically a bit too big.

Class, just pure class!
I remember when I got married the first time. I had a Yamaha RD250 and it needed a top end re-build. Into the house it came and work progressed. She was not too appreciative of my efforts. Needless to say, this wonderous union of 2 humans lasted but 11 months. The bike must go she said, so I rode off into the sunset! Simples..

You should be thankful she doesn't touch it, unless you want bits broken, bent, AJAX'ed or similar some day.;):D:cool::cool::cool:
