first oil change on my rocket by yours truly

That seems a little steep unless like Scott said you went with the K&N option. As for oil goes, I never had a problem with the recommended Mobile 1 oil 15W50 and ran it until I increased the horse power. The Shell Rotella is good to start a burn pile with or say to lubricate bicycle chains.
Good oil is a lot cheaper then good engine parts!!!!
I can not speak for Caster oil But suspect it is good. I think Triumph switched because of Sponsor $$$$$
I spend a wee bit more on filters and use the Purolator PSL14610 Synthetic filters at about 9.50 a piece.
As for oil I spend a wee bit more but then I do have different components the the OEM engine. Things like heavy valve springs are why I spend a little more on oil. I do want to try the Motul oils as Neville Lush has recommended their brand. He has been into countless Rocket engines, so his choices are based on experience!!!!!!!!

So I changed oil,oil filter and air filter today. 135.00 for parts. What would a shop charge me?

The thief by me charges 450$ for annual service including oil chance (mogul) final drive oil (Mobil) and all things listed by triumph as annual service. I now do it myself.
6 was of castrol full sun 10w50 Mobil 1 oil filter
Oil 46$
Oil filter on sale 4.50.
No doubt mogul oil is a fine oil but everyone by me charges 20$ a quart what a rip.
Then in the fall change oil again to castrol 10w40 full sun. With the money you save doing it yourself can't hurt to change it twice a year..

Nope. Used triumph filters and Castrol 4t oil. K&n air filter next time

The Castrol 4T 10W/50 is very good oil. Keep using it. Shop around you should be able to find it for about $12 or so. The Triumph oil filter is good but a Purolator L14612 or PL14612 cab be purchased for as little as $3 to $6. They are top rated by Consumer Reports.

The stock paper air filter is cleanable with compressed air and can be reused for ... well forever if done right. I have my stock filter original filter with over 27,000 miles. I use my air compressor and carefully blow it out at every service. Sometimes even more often. It still looks new. You now have 2 of them so with those you should be good forever.

DO NOT waste your money on a K&N under seat air filter. They let too much of the fine particles pass through and go into your engine. They give no discernible increase in performance.
