FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I bought the 2015 TOURING about a month ago. My hand was healing from a motorcycle wreck but I would try to ride the bike a little each morning until my hand hurt to much to work the clutch. I was breaking in the bike so at that rate it took about ten days to get the 500 miles on it. On the first week I owned it the local Triumph dealer installed D&D pipes, the Triumph performance tune, and wrapped the headers with header wrap. Right after the 500 mile dealer service I installed a Triumph gel seat. Friday I trailered the bike on a special trailer I use for the V8 bikes from Las Vegas to Riverside California. I dropped the truck and trailer there at the guys shop that custom built the trailer to have some upgrades done. Its a hydraulic trailer that lowers itself to flat on the ground and after the bike rides on it and into special attachments which take less than 30 seconds to latch the trailer raises back up to its standard height. After I got there I unloaded my bike and rode up it to Simi Valley which is a little north of Los Angeles. The following day I rode with about fifteen other bikes to an event in Ventura California at the beach. I finally got back to Riverside today and loaded the bike on my upgraded trailer to bring it back to Las Vegas. I put about 500 miles on it during this ride. I rode it mostly between 75 and 85 mph. Some short spurts at slightly over a hundred. I love the torque and the absence of vibrations. The bike handles great to me. It feels like a little road racer. You have to remember that I've been riding a 1300 pound V8 bike called a Boss Hoss for the last eight years. I love about 40 miles per gallon. The seat was good but not great, I miss the riders backrest I have on the Boss Hoss. I also miss hiway pegs but they are coming. If the pegs don't help enough I'll buy the seat that comes with a backrest. My butt didn't get sore at all so the gel is fine but my back was a little sore, more than with the backrest on the Boss Hoss. The stock windshield was fine for me but I do have another coming from Clearshield that is one inch taller and has a vent in it. Maybe I'll even like it better, I should know soon. In any case the stock one was fine. This is a great bike and I'm happy to have it. I especially like that I had the only Rocket 3 out of 16 bikes that I rode with, its better to be one in a million than one of a million.

You're definately are'nt one of a million. Your the one in. Do you own two different V8 bikes?

Yes, I own the Boss Hoss and the V8 Chopper. I got hit by a truck pulling a camper trailer in Anaconda Montana on the second of August. It wiped out the Boss Hoss on one side, tore off the crash bar, smashed the tank, ripped out the radiator, tore off the pegs and lights, tore off the front fender, windshield and bent the bars and risers. I got 31 stitches in my hand but other than that I wasn't hurt. I will fix the Boss Hoss again as the motor, trans, frame were not hurt. I decided to buy the Rocket on about August tenth since the Boss Hoss will be down for a long time and I need a cruising bike. The V8 Chopper is a fun and super fast bike but its not a cruiser and I don't pack any passenger on it. I like the Rocket a lot and will probably keep it even after the Boss Hoss gets finished.

I lived in Hemet, about 20 miles East of Riverside until we moved to Missouri in 1999. I have a Daughter and her husband in Riverside, in the Historic area and a Son in Redondo Beach. I was born in Lynwood.

I miss the ocean since I'm a Diver, deep sea fisherman, Sailor and Powerboater. I also miss the foothills and mountains since I had dualsports and forever rode the jeep trails in the area. I hate the traffic there and always have!

Enjoy the Rocket!!! Fairly quick---yes???

Hi Porky, I used to dive mostly at Catalina Island when I was younger. I had a few powerboats back then, those were great days. One of my best friends who died recently was a commercial fisherman, primarily swordfish. I once went on his boat for 31 days in the North Atlantic before we filled the boat. I also hate the traffic in the So Cal area but still have many friends there so make the trip often. The Rocket is very quick especially for a touring model, its a modern bike to me, I love everything about it. My friends mostly have Harleys and even they love the way it looks, some are just now starting to memorize my license plate!
