Finding Neutral...?

This is a common issue but is it just me? I cant seem to find the **** thing to save my life. And when I do the light isnt always illuminated. I had the GPS (gear position sensor) replaced under the recall but this didnt help as far as the illumination goes.

So here is the question....Does anybody have a "trick" to finding neutral and can you adjust the GPS so it detects neutral more frequently when Im in it ?

Also you will throw the check engine light if it stays in neutral too long without the light illuminated. Hence why this is annoying.

I found that the more I put mine into neutral, the easier it got. Just put it in neutral anytime you park (unless on a hill of course). It'll lossen up after a few thousand miles. If you've had the gps replaced and it won't light up all the time, put it in first and try again... happens to me too.

ill give it a try. I really dont use it much. Traffic around here is light and the stop lights arent that long so holding the clutch in is no bother. I never shift to neutral when I stop at my destination. I just put the kick stand down the bike shuts off, turn the key to off and done. Guess if I used it more it might break it in.

I use my neutral all the time,
and it goes in good.
Wife has a hard time finding it on my bike,
but then I guess she's just use to hers.
If you rock it or roll it a little,
it should go in easier till you get it broke in.

My "trick" if you want to call it that is to shift to neutral just as I'm coming to the stop. If there is still some movement in the transmission it seems very easy to me.

If you come to a complete stop and everything is stationary in the tranny, this is when I've noticed the difficulty finding neutral. Whereas if the bike is still rolling even a little bit it's much easier for me.

I've not had any issues with the neutral indicator not lighting up. (2008 with the GPS changed out).

My little trick is to shift into 1st, very lightly release the clutch (not enough to make the bike move) and upshift. I typically try to find it on the way down, but your right ... sometimes it can be a pain when you are stopped. I think the clutch trick just stops it from sliding into second rather than helping to find neutral. I have a GiPro, and you can't trust it at all when hunting for neutral, when the light turns green (even if it feels like it never went into neutral) you are there. Have to trust the green light. lol

Yep Bobebob, exactly the same method I use with exactly the same results and observations....

I've never had any problem finding neutral before the rebuild or after. I'm wondering if your clutch is mal-adjusted and dragging slightly.
