Finally felt good enough to get out in the barn and work on the Roc. Installed my new Stebel horn behind the original horns chrome cover like I did the original, except this time I faced the openings backwards to try to keep the water out of it. Seems to be just as loud. I broke the old one apart. The diaphragms are brass colored but I think they are steel plated with something. You could see where the water had collected in them and corroded the diaphragms. I always covered it when giving it a bath but not much you can do when riding in the rain. Time will tell if this helps. Also got my new Rivco crash bars installed. I would like to give a shout out to Roscoe (Zimtuff) for selling them to me. Good chance I'd never see another brand new set. Found out you have to lift the bike up a little by the engine in order to get that front motor mount bolt in and out. The front of the engine drops down if you don't and you cant get the bolt back in ! Other than that all the bolt holes aligned perfectly. Rivco stuff is pricey but it's hard to beat the quality. These bars are 50 times more sturdy than the OEM Triumph ones they replaced. The later Triumph bars are a lot heavier than the early ones like I had. So far I'm liking the Kuryakyn highway pegs. They seem to be well made as well. Still have to clean my K&N's !

So they'll pass 50 times more stress to the engine/frame if they're ever used in anger. They're designed to give like "Crash Zones" in cars.

No there there to protect the motor from tip overs and such
They are not designed like a crumple zone in a car
They are designed to protect the engine period
Like when your foot slips trying to back up and you do a laugh in fall
Or drop it at low speeds
The original first set of crash bars for the rocket by triumph were pretty much crumple zones
Drop your rocket by just tipping it over and they were bent
Now with the Rivcos you can tip it over and not have to buy a new set like you would have had too back in 2005 with triumphs "crash bars " that's why triumph beefed there's up they were cheap crap in the beginning
I believe that's what he is trying to say

The weakest link on a rocket is the thriple tree
Break that and your insurance company will give you a new bike it's totaled
They will think the Frame I bent
As it would be on most bikes
However the rocket triple trees are cast and break easy
I know
Been there done that after me and my bike want over a car
How ever as I'm pulling my extras off the bike I stuck the key in and started it it ran great
I should have bought it back for 2500.00

Live and learn
Could have made lots a money
But felt luck to be walking at the time

I put the OEM bars on my 2009 Rocket and they are very beefy. Like the Scientist says the engine drops a bit and it can be a challenge aligning the top bolt.

They do stop the bike from damage. Put the kickstand down (I thought) and I put the bike on the left crashbar. Nothing bent or scratched.:)

Ditto Fred. Glad you were up to the task. I have those same Kuri pegs (courtesy of Hanso) as pillion pegs. They are well made and look great.
