2005 Rocket III
Have a 2005 Rocket III Standard and to my displeasure I noticed a very small oil leak under the bike in the area where the shaft comes out of the motor. There is a rubber boot that covers the shaft and the oil leak is at the bottom of that. There was a small oil puddle on the garage floor and it was the size of a dime. Smelled to me like gear oil.

The recall notice for the final drive reads:

Recall Summary: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, DAMAGE TO THE OIL SEAL OCCURRED DURING FINAL ASSEMBLY. ONCE DAMAGED SOME OF THE OIL IN THE DRIVE UNIT COULD ESCAPE PAST THE SEAL.
Hazard: IF UNDETECTED THE FINAL DRIVE UNIT COULD RUN LOW OF OIL AND SEIZE CAUSING THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FINAL DRIVE UNIT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 25, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRIUMPH AT 678-854-2010.

What oil seal are they referring to? There is an oil seal in the back of the motor where the shaft comes out of the motor, and then there is another one where the shaft goes into the final drive. That's what my understanding is, anyway.
Which of the two is the one that was causing problems and this recall notice addresses?

Take it to a dealer. Sounds like you might get it repaired under warranty.
call Triumph. Nothing to lose.
