Electrical issues.....

Didn't know the Touring had the same problem.. anyone else out there with an on a R3T had the ignition switch wiring/soldering melting ?

No, but I consider the headlight pretty weak, for a 2010 "Touring" bike, I plan to do the kit just in hopes it will improve the lighting.

I did the EB kit on my 08 R3T at about 2000 miles. It made very little difference in light out put. Others who waited longer said it made a visble difference. If you want a good headlight get a whole new reflector/bulb unit. I got mine from Candlepower Inc.

Thanks all for the many helpful responses. Don't think there are any mods to the bike. Seems the dealer (mechanic) isn't sure of what he is doing. Owner tells me he is no longer employed. Will pass this info along and hopefully he will be in the wind soon! Thanks again

The main reason for that is the low light output is due to the higher resistance in the switch when the contacts start going south. At 2000 miles its likely your switch didnt have the problem. However its worth doing some kind of current bypass mod as soon as possible, IMO. Thats unless the system already has a relay fitted of course.

when my switch went south it was because the wires were pulling at it wen turning the bars have not had a problem since I moved it

True, which is why I did it proactivley. With a single headlight the Touring is less susceptable to problem than the Standard with dual headlights.

If your looking for good lights add the bypass relay and buy decent reflector units.
