I''ve got a problem ,thought I had bad ignition switch . No power . Today got power and was able to connect tune ecu , threw fault codes P1231 an P560 disconnected connector A at ecu an reconnected cleared codes switched ignition back on an still got P1231 short to fuel pump relay . Manual tells me to do tests but don't know what i'm looking for in the tests anyone enlighten me R111r , Turbo ? Thanks

Check the fuel pump relay for proper operation. Also, use a multimeter to check the power supply to the relay. Two of the four contacts should have a voltage of +12 volts.

It remains to check the integrity of the wire from the ECU to the relay. First, check for proper functioning, and then check for a short circuit to ground or positive. If there are no issues, the ECU may be faulty.

forget about the way the manual says to check the circuit
in the beginning you said (thought i had bad ign no power that will set the p0560 code. this would be my concern. need more info on this,
when you turn on ign can you hear the fuel pump run. also can you feel the relay apply ?
when you turn on ign can u feel the engine management relay click?
if you have a main power problem you go after that first.

fitted new ignition switch still had no power . pulled fuel and management relays looked ok switched ignition on and clocks came to life . switched off an put management relay back ,switched on and all good. put fuel relay back in and every thing shut down . no voltage to ignition switch. gave up tonight thought i'd post an get opinions on forum before i get back into it tomorrow. thanks for your input herman

It turns out that everything is there without a relay, if you plug it in, the voltage is gone. We need to look at where the voltage drop is going. The fuse may burn out so that it is not visible, but the contacts will simply oxidize.Maybe the battery is weak or the contact is bad.
