Ecu problem, I think.

Any thing new
Bought a used ecu from e-bay, it's arrived but haven't put it on yet. When bike shut off, luckily I had a neighbor and another friend go with me to load on trailer. I built this trailer several yrs. ago, tilt bed with hyd. cylinder to control rise and drop., easy loading and unloading as long as bike runs. After getting home I decided to mount an electric winch at front of trailer so I could make it a one person job if it ever happens again. So I've been making mounts, brackets, etc. , just about done with wiring and then I can start back on the bike. I'll let you know the outcome, either good or bad. Don't want to think of it not being the problem, but we'll see. Thanks for asking

i am thinking that the ecu change is not going to help so a backup plan would be good
you need to have a jumper wire to atchet to 12 volt wire feeding the coils and injectors.
on mine it is the inside wire that feeds the 12 volts but i would confirm this by removing that wire and check with volt meter.
if you hook 12 volts up to the side the ecu grounds to make the spark then it might be possible to blow the ecu.
once it is jumped it may or may not keep running with the key in the off position. just something to watch out for

Thanks Herman, believe on factory coils the inside wires were 12 volts and outside were the grounds, and I believe the grds. were green wires. I changed to coil over plugs about four years ago so can't remember all the details. I'm still doing final touches to the trailer, and then I have to run a power source from truck to trailer for winch, so I'm still a couple days away from playing with the bike. Going to install relays, circuit breakers, etc. so will take a little longer, going to use a ford style solenoid ( continuous duty} to transfer the power, and a relay to turn the solenoid off and on. Wife doesn't understand why everything takes me so long. Didn't mean to write a book.
