Hiya;
I'm technically not a rocket owner until tomorrow afternoon (Thursday, April 10th 2014) when I get delivery of my brand new 2014 Triumph Rocket III touring.

It's the phantom black but I plan on quickly getting it wrapped in a matte black 3M. I wish Triumph had of released the touring in the matte paint like the roadster.

I've also ordered the Triumph highway pegs as my first "upgrade" second being the 3M wrap.

How does the bike sound stock? It's my first venture into a cruiser without a v twin motor. I have owned a 2002 Honda F4I, a 2007 Honda CBR 600RR and a 2006 Honda VTX1300.

The VTX was ridiculously loud. I had Vance and Hines straight shots installed, it was too much.

I've heard rumours that the Rocket sounds like a small car? Like a civic..... I really hope not!

My '08 Classic sounded like a Singer sewing machine with factory setup. I put on the Jardines exhaust system and it sounds like 3 cylinder NASCAR.

I wish there was an in between option. That's probably the only thing Harley Davidson does right. Their stock bikes come with a decent rumble..

Welcome James from Sutton , noticing theres more and more Ontario R3 owners popping up. We might meet up someday!
Wait until the warranty is finished on your bike before you start doing too many mods.

That's a very valid point..... I'll keep the performance mods to a minimum and within the warranty

Welcome James. You didn't test ride a Rocket nor even hear one running??
There are mods you can do and void your warranty. Triumph Of Road (TOR) exhaust for a start. Not the ultimate performance system but excellent for the money and will give you a much better sound than stock without being overly loud. Changing the intake to something like a Ramair shouldn't matter either. Just check with your dealer before doing anything too radical.

Welcome James.
I recon you would be the first (that I know of) to have a matt black touring.
Should look good and protect your shiny paint too.
