Ducati 2019 model announcement

Never owned a sport bike. This will be my first one. At my age properly my only one.
Allow me to say just one thing then. Be very careful with it. Ducati's ime give absolutely no warnings - they will corner and handle perfectly right up the moment they do not at all. Other makes will maybe waggle a bit as they approach limits. They are ime WONDERFUL bikes to ride.

@barbagris I like the RE Himalayan too.
Hard not to. Just worries me that it's only a 400. Ideal for Green Lanes and dirt roads but maybe a bit down for playing in modern traffic.
Now if they do a stroked 500 - say 600cc ish I would already be queueing. OK maybe not queueing as I really want to see the Guzzi V85TT - expected on Nov 19th.
Not sure I want another watercooled bike - ever!.

Almost bought the V4S model last year. Backed out due to specs and maintenance. Was told by the dealer down in Texas that Ducati was coming out with a new version in 2019. Maintenance will be about the same. Valve check every 5,000 miles along with a long list of checks and adjustments. The specs not the same. Everything i did not care for on the V4S is now been changed via the New V4R and I really like it. Apparently the rest of the motorcycle industry agrees. Figure at 60 years old if i am going to do it i had better do it soon. Don't think I'll be riding it cross country or even as a ever day bike. This is going to be my toy bike. Have owned a lot of bikes but never a sport bike. Always looked upon Ducati's as being special. Grew up in that generation. I look at what is being offered by the industry today and nothing stands out. Nothing really new or interesting. This bike is very interesting. Believe it is going to be a real pain to maintain but will most definitely add a grin factor every time it is rode. Right up there with the Rocket when it comes to being unique. Not your everyday sport bike. Just curios what the #ell is a Grom?

Mate - I grew up riding exclusively Italian bikes. Guzzi, Laverda, Ducati and Benelli. Each has a characteristic "way of being".
I am a Guzzi and Laverda sort of bloke. Guzzi for every day and Laverdas for lunacy.

I also enjoyed my early Buell. That only just beat a Ducati SS2R into second place because of the ruddy valve adjustment. Love MV's too. But they can be a bit vicious.
The only reason I have an R3 is because, simply, I could not find a Guzzi (then) that would do the job. And believe me I wanted SO HARD to find one that did.

Jealous? - me? - just a bit. But realistically - don't think my lower back would cope with clip-ons any more.

Will be a fun bike to flog the guts out of but 15k red line and a massively over-square engine means **** all torque and likely not good manners on the road kinda puts me off. As you say Sonny as a sometimes bike it is probably a good buy and will be a heap of fun to ride hard. Also, in Oz they hold their value better than the Japanese and German brands too .. I'd love to see one run against an H2 - will have to wait for the Youtubers to entertain me
