2005 Rocket III
Hundreds of times I have backed my Rocket into the sloping driveway then made a sharp left turn into the street. Some of those times I turned a bit too sharply and the bike started to go over but I was able to keep it up with a lot of effort from the left leg. Well about two weeks ago I pulled a left calf muscle playing softball and it still hurts. So when I turned too sharply today it was either drop the Rocket or pull the muscle again......I dropped the Rocket and it came down hard and sent me flying down the driveway.....LOL!

No injuries to me or the bike, and since there was nobody around, no injuries to my pride. I did, however, have to pick the bike back up again by myself and slightly uphill. No big deal using the "back into it" method.

Every once in a while I have to learn to respect the Rocket all over again.

Gees Mate, Good to hear you and the R3 are all ok. I have not had to pick the R3 up yet and I dont plan on finding out just how heavy it is.

They're light as a feather in the first few seconds, Mittzy, but get heavier real fast. ;)
Always good to respect these big things. Glad the incident was just a reminder.

She will bite you when you least expect it. I shouldn't have been riding with a bad leg, but its a bike that is hard to resist.

Yes i know this to be true, I nearly dropped my R3R once when my feet couldnt touch the ground, but I managed to use the B.F. & I (Brute Force & Ingorance) technique to save it from going over, I am strong (I think) but was pretty spent after that struggle.

I've done it several times, but not in about a year. Always when turning sharply at low speeds, and being in second or third when I thought I was in first, stalled or started to stall, and lost power.

Almost dropped mine when it was two weeks old. On the way to dealer to get 500 mile oil change. Stop and go traffic and did a panic stop just short of railroad tracks. Wasn't plumb when it stopped and she started leaning over. Caught it just before it made contact. I'm thinking wrench my back or fubar my brand new ride. My back will heal (sort of). So while the light is red, adrenalin kicks in and just by brute force held the thing off from dropping completely. Managed to slowly bring it upright just in time for the light to turn green and get a cheer from the guy beside me. She has earned and kept my respect ever since. Still too skeered to push it too far in the figure-8 exercise.
