Doubling up on exhaust gaskets?

hi all, I'm curious as to if its common practice or a good idea to double up on the exhaust header gaskets to the cylinder port.
Ask because upon examining my 2014 roadster engine when going for installing the header I saw all 3 ports still had used gaskets there. Each port retaing 2 gaskets.
 
I have read over the years of the need for double gaskets. However when I removed my stock header to install my new Viking Header there was only one in each port from the factory. Never had any leaks. So I installed 1 new gasket in each port with my new Viking Header. No Leaks.
 
Back when they were still making the Jardene exhaust lots guys doubled up on the gaskets with no ill effects.
