Do any of you forget to shift into 5th gear at times on the highway?

I didn't know I had a 5th gear. Actually, with all the torque, I sometimes don't even bother to down-shift.

Yes I have forgotten a few times but I don't often forget to shift into 5th on the freeway. I'll tell you what I do almost every time I ride. That is look for 6th gear. Man I wish we had a 6th gear.

Looking for 6th like everyone else.

If it helps the speedo (on mine anyway) is in the same position as the rev counter when in fourth so its easy to tell at a glance.

I ride in 4th a bit as I live on really windy roads and getting into 5th not really useful

Yep it would be hard to use 5th gear on some of the roads over there. I lived at a little town called Glen Afton some really good twisties around there

I don't think the rockets need a 6 speed gearbox just a taller 5th Gear, even stock the motor has enough torque to run the bike up to speed with 4 lower gears, if 4th was the same as the present 5th then an overdrive 5th gear would be nice, one advantage the of chain and sprocket system you can tailer your own ratios with sprocket changes to suit your needs.

I haven't forgot to shift into 5th. I ride in fourth at times when on slower highways. Usually, I am in 5th by the end of the on ramp serching for 6th arounf 85 or so. Even after 30K miles, I still try to find it...

Hi BigKel

Hey know Glen Afton well, I'm in Waikokowai just down the road, ride through there occasionally, there's that nasty 25kmh corner heading out of town that never sees the sun....

Small world aye, I lived in Waikokowai until I was about 8, then went to Rotowaro and Glen Afton.
That sharp bend at the bottom of the hill in Waikokowai is nasty to.

Gday

I live in a house in Waikokowai on the crossroads, right across the road from the old store, its actually odd but over the years I've met a number of people who know the town, or lived in it we are constantly amazed, your another one. The weirdest was my good friends auntie who actually lived in our house as a kid she's about 70 now and was over on holiday from Aussie too. She had trouble recognizing the place due to the amount of renovation we have done fixing the place up. We've way over invested but that's sorta immaterial as we love it here and plan never to leave, been 10 years now.

Its not the bend going out of town that's nearly caught me but coming down the hill into Waikokowai there's a really deceptive negative camber bend, you only ever do it at speed once. Two mates have ended up in the gravel there so far (not come off thankfully). Here's a pic, you can see the street sign.

Whoops hijacking this thread with my enthusiasm sorry.

A mate I went to school with lives right there on that intersection, Shane his name is and his parents live down the road towards Ruawaro
