I bought a 2nd hand radiator guard with the intention of spraying it red - to be different! When it arrived it was slightly chipped. I noticed "chrome" shining through. I then checked further and found it wasn't chrome but stainless so decided to strip the paint off.

I am going to fit it first to see what it looks like i.e. stainless is a black housing. If it looks good may leave it. I'm still intrigued as to what it would look like in red with black surrounds.

I may get some of that plastidip and try that as well. Would be interested if anyone had a picture of a red one especially with a black surround.

Hey...Are you messing with my forum name? Interesting, I had mine etched with a little sandblasting and then powder coated black. Why would Triumph chrome a cool stainless steel grill unless to match the chrome shroud. Looks nice!

Nice one. Probably as per you because of your handle, I do like to be different.

Basically, I don't know if any were chrome, it was just it appeared so before I determined it was stainless. I also theorise that when the later Roadster came out they sprayed/coated them black trather than paint a mild steel one. Also if you look on the Triumph website the stainless ones are £85 and the black ones £90 (£5 for coating it black)

Swapped them over this afternoon. The light doesn't really show it to the best advantage but I'm pleased with the subtle difference.

Whenremoving the existing covers I noticed some of the screws undid very easily. In addition the top centre cowl's screw had wound out a few turns. I'd always assumed it was rubber mounted! Whether they had worked / vibrated loose or not I don't know but as a precaution I used thread locker when I put them back

I think the manual suggests using medium thread locker like Locktite Blue. Contrast looks good. I am not a fan of the 'blackout' theme. I put the S/S laser cut one from our forum member @Sidecar Flip, aka his online site Flipmeister, in front of the mesh grill, so left the black mesh there for contrast and extra fin protection. Great product, communication and service from Flip who goes out of his way to help.

These are very brightly polished that doesn't show in photo below.

I has been my experience you have to to keep a eye on the shroud bolts. The first time I went to remove the grill I noticed it was missing one of the bottom screws and another was loose. After that I used a little medium blue locktite on them.

I noticed the same thing. Blue locktite to the rescue.

Blackthou you might be interested in these brake line holders. I installed these over a year ago with no problems. Mine would never stay locked into the plastic retainer clips on the front fender. They don't really have to be locked in but it was either looked like something was wrong or do away with the clips in which then there was holes in the fender. o_O
