I take it you bought a Tee shirt......
That's why I tell everyone to check the
actual shipping price, especially on Flea-Bay. It's a very common scam to low ball the item price while jacking the shipping up to compensate for the difference.
Because of the way Flipmeisters is set up, the site flat rates the shipping at a fixed rate that I've pre-determined and Shawn has programmed in. That rate may or may not cover the actual shipping cost (some of my customers have noticed that the shipping was more than I actually charged them) but sometimes, it's a bit more. It averages out pretty well.
I like to use the Post Office to ship my items. I went to 'click-n-ship' a few months ago and I print my shipping paper and postage on line and drop it at the post office. Problem is, you can't send many items USPS. The post office won't accept ORM-D items. aerosol's motor oil, flammable items and a bunch of other stuff, so with the advent of me adding 7th Gear lubricants (soon), a percentage of my items will go UPS.
Interestingly, UPS is the main carrier for the Postal Service, especially on First Class International shipments.
That's a bit long winded but in summary, every purchaser needs to watch the bottom line when buying something on the web, or even buying something from a supplier/dealer that isn't local. Hidden or ambiguous shipping costs can drive the cost of a purchase from a bargain to a bust very quickly.
....Liike the old saying......
