It official Ramp Triumph on Long Island is gone. They finaly got it going right with the right people then close at the beginning of the season. They sold everything including the signs. Now we wait for a new dealership to open. I hear that Triumph has already signed someone up, it might be around Sept/Oct till this happens. Anyone hear anything about this.

I haven't heard anything. Sorry to hear they closed, maybe the new dealership will have some of the previous employees (if they were starting to work out well) and it will be bigger and better. Good Luck!

Ramp must have made out like bandits during their clearance sale, selling a t-shirt for $10 then charging $12 to ship it.

yeah.. they were my dealer as well. I'm taking my R3 to the NYC store. They've been good to me as well. I hope Lou get a gig in town, he's a great mechanic....he built my custom read plate mount.

cheers

I take it you bought a Tee shirt......

That's why I tell everyone to check the actual shipping price, especially on Flea-Bay. It's a very common scam to low ball the item price while jacking the shipping up to compensate for the difference.

Because of the way Flipmeisters is set up, the site flat rates the shipping at a fixed rate that I've pre-determined and Shawn has programmed in. That rate may or may not cover the actual shipping cost (some of my customers have noticed that the shipping was more than I actually charged them) but sometimes, it's a bit more. It averages out pretty well.

I like to use the Post Office to ship my items. I went to 'click-n-ship' a few months ago and I print my shipping paper and postage on line and drop it at the post office. Problem is, you can't send many items USPS. The post office won't accept ORM-D items. aerosol's motor oil, flammable items and a bunch of other stuff, so with the advent of me adding 7th Gear lubricants (soon), a percentage of my items will go UPS.

Interestingly, UPS is the main carrier for the Postal Service, especially on First Class International shipments.

That's a bit long winded but in summary, every purchaser needs to watch the bottom line when buying something on the web, or even buying something from a supplier/dealer that isn't local. Hidden or ambiguous shipping costs can drive the cost of a purchase from a bargain to a bust very quickly.

....Liike the old saying......

'Pay me now or pay me later'...........

FleaBay merchants are the worst when it comes to shipping charges. There are times when it still works out to the buyer's advantage, however. I bought a cell phone case on there for a penny. The shipping was $6.95. That's still a good $15 less than the local cell shop. What the FleaBayer is doing is circumventing the insertion fee, thus, increasing his margin. In this particular case, it's a win win for both parties. Of course, Ebay is losing out on some cash. But, that's between them and the seller as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't cracked down on that sort of thing.
