Bike died today.

05 Rocket, cruising along check engine light comes on. Look for a spot to pull over, sputter, idled bounces a bit. Then dead, no lights, nothing. Push it off the road. No lights, no parking lights, nothing.

While waiting for a tow truck (3 hours), I tried it once and it light up but hitting the starter click, dead, dead no lights ever since.

Suggestions? Things to check before I have towed to the dealer?

Thanks, Jim

Main fuse blew?

My money is on ignition switch failure.

'05 bike, no headlight relays?? Gotta be ignition switch. Done well to last this long.

Thanks Guys! Now I have something I can try out on my own.

Hook a battery charger to the battery and put it on 'start' and see if you get guages, lights, etc. If so it's the battery, if not it's the ignition switch. Takes about 2 minutes to sort (and a pile of cash to fix).

Maybe, but the faulty ignition could have cooled a bit and be in good working order when that test is tried.

Thanks Everybody,
It is the switch. No lights no matter what I do but the key is suddenly hard to turn. Uhg, second switch to go on this bike. This one lasted less than 5 rides since the dealer replaced the last switch. I need to get that Eastern Beaver kit and put this madness to an end.

Thanks for all the help.

After you have the switch replaced install the EB kit. I have an 05 and have never had a switch problem (so far). I installed the EB kit in 2009.

I thought about the keyless kit but I am not that comfortable cutting wires on these things. The EB kit is challenge enough for now.
