Dead Battery- Temporary Odyssey PC625 Install

Just a question on the Odyssey PC625. I have a dead battery in the parking lot at work. I had to leave it last night. I am going to replace the stock battery with the PC625. Considering it'll be about 25F degrees when I go out at 5 to change it out, I don't really want to tackle the battery cage issue until after I get home. Will there be enough room to shove it in there temporarily until I get home and still get the seat reattached?

Option A is preferred: Get a jump start to get you home to warmer conditions.

Option B: Install in parking lot. The PC625 can be set in the normal space and the seat refitted, however, you will have to do something else with the toolkit.

For future reference, The PC625 is a real ***** to jump start with modern style jumper cables. The terminal posts are recessed in the top and the newer style jumper cables have plastic covers that won't fit down into the recess to make contact. Don't ask how I know this. I had to resort to clamping vice-grips onto each terminal and then clamp the jumper cables to the vice-grips. Didn't figure that out until after 20 minutes of stomping and grumbling and cussing at it.

Not likely I'll get a jump, so I'll try option B. Are the terminals screw-in like the Stock battery. I have a bunch of things running off the battery, heated seat, audio system, heating clothing, etc. I just want to make sure I can get it all back up and running. I guess I would suffer until I got home if I had to.

If I remember right, I was able to use all existing connections when I made the switch.

It will drop right in. It will be very tight, but a little push should get it seated in the battery box. The posts are similar (I think the 625 uses nuts on posts instead of screws into a nut), but if you have any accessories attached to the battery they may require some small adjustment to fit. Still, not more than a 15 minute or so job.

Have you removed the snorkel from under your seat? I had mine removed when I installed the 625 so I'm not sure if there's any issue with clearance there. If there is, just unscrew it and toss it into your saddlebag. Only a few screws hold it on.

As Robert knows, the tool kit is not located under the seat on the R3T.

Guess I need to remove the snorkel. I got it installed, mostly, during lunch and the seat was not seating correctly. At least I'm good to get it home either way as I started it up before I came back in.

..be careful with those brass? terminals..they're easily stripped..I stripped the threads on mine about half way down the bolt..by putting a couple of washers on the bottom first, I now have enough bite to tighten down enough to make a good connection..
