I was just about to order the cat bypass from newR3 and saw that the D&D exhaust (which also gets rid of the cat) was only $25 more than the cat-bypass.

I was originally just planning on buying the cat-bypass, a Tuneboy, and drilling 2 or 3 holes thru the baffles at the end of the stock mufflers. In addition to performance, I'm looking for a sound that's more interesting than the stock setup...but that also isn't obnoxiously/overly loud. (like, if my buddies won't ride next to me on the highway because of excessively loud pipes)

So if anyone can shed light for me, my questions are:

1. Do the D&D pipes have a reputation of being 'too loud'? (I know some have said this re: the Jardine pipes).

2. Would they be A LOT louder than just getting the cat-bypass and drilling out the stock mufflers?

3. Would drilling out the stock mufflers, getting the cat by-pass and Tuneboy still sound like crap (as I think the stock bike sounds like)?

Thanks so much guys! Learning so much about this awesome bike!!

I have D&D's on my bike, noise wise they are loud but not obtrusive, great low rumble and yes cheapest way to loose the cat and get more flow out of your bike, I really like the D&D's the pipes sit nice and tight into the swingarm and give the bike a more agressive look, check out my pictures to see what they look like from both the right side, and the naked left side of the bike.

I got a deal on cat bypass from someone
who went with jardines.
I got a 24" bit drill hole through stock mufflers
all 3 plates.
1st plate @ end of muffler
2 nd plate 6 " in go through it hit fiberglass packing
3 rd plate about 18 " in
Sounds like the one below a wee bit louder

Oh, yes...EXACTLY the info I was looking for. Can't thank ya enough! I think anything louder than that, may be a little louder than what I'm after.
Thanks VERY much!

Best,
Bob
