Cycle World Mention

No heat problem in SoCal

It is kind of cool the forum actually got a Cycle World mention.

A while back it was also discussed that removing the stock air box and plumbing under the seat will make more heat flow to the back of the bike and under the seat. I scoffed, figured more air flow was good, but in the earlier fall when I was riding around a lot for a day or two in city traffic (had to go to a branch office and do work and took the bike of course) I got proof that actually is true after prolonged riding.

The area under the side covers got almost hot, and the seat did warm up more than I've felt earlier. I'm actually contemplating putting up some kind of air deflector over the air box this winter to push the air out to the sides instead of letting it flow straight back onto the battery. Probably not necessary...

YOU can retune in the cruising range leaning that area and you can get 40+ mpg on the Highway

I would drive or trailer up to 300 miles, maybe more, if I could get that done, but I can't locate anybody on the east coast who claims to have "rocket experience". Most of the tuners are strictly race, or cater to the Harley crowd. I'm not the only one having trouble locating a Rocket Scientist type tuner. It makes me think we should create some kind of registry of known tuners that do good work tuning R3's? I'm not a computer guy, so I don't know how to go about doing that, but it sure would be helpful.

Mid summer, sitting at the lights I can feel my right leg slowly roasting from the custom headers

Thanks. My impression from their website is that they are in the customizing business and impressive at that, but they don't seem to be advertising tuning up stock motorcycles with headers for just anybody off the street? At least I can't find any info about it.
