Not long after I bought my 2023 Rocket GT I was intrigued with the notion of getting rid of the factory installed throttle limitations in Sport mode. That led me to change the ETV tables to gain the full throttle response I wanted (and really like). In reprogramming the ECU however, the program also reset the throttle adaptations on the throttle control. Neat, clean, easy, no muss, no fuss on any of my other Triumphs. But on this bike it also wiped out my cruise control. WTF? I noticed when I started the engine the cruise control icon would flash green a couple times on the TFT then go out. After that, nada for cruise control. No MIL light either. No sequencing of button mashing would activate it. So digging into the service manual today I found that anytime the throttle adaptations are reset in the ECU the cruise control (because it's ride by wire) is disabled until the 'cruise control switch check' is done. That's a puzzler. The owner's manual doesn't mention that anywhere, not even an arcane hint. So using what little knowledge I have on digital skuldugery I tried Google for an answer to my dilemma and the AI bot came up with some interesting information. I checked the service manual and it's about as clear as a carbon fiber windscreen. There's no procedure actually written to do the check. Turns out the trick is to just go through the littany of switches that affect cruise operation and make sure they are all working. That means PROCEDURALLY you actuate the front brake, rear brake, clutch, roll the throttle all the way off, actuate the set/+ and res/- buttons one after the other and the blinkey green cruise icon goes out. The error code if you look that up in TuneECU will be DTC 1575 and it says it can't be cleared until the switch check is performed. So if you're like me and have the willingness to dork with the ECU, be prepared to go through this little ritual everytime you reset the adaptations. One note, the DTC clears on it's own once the switch check is performed so there is that little grace. Meaning if you got them all you cleared the DTC.
