Covering your arse

The problem is that if the person is not paying attention it still isn't going to do you much good except make you even more upset because they didn't see you with all the extra stuff supposedly working in your favor.

As someone else (and a great many others have previously said)...ride like you are invisible and that they are trying to kill you...YOU cannot afford to daydream on the bike like they seem to think they can while driving a car/truck.

Ride safe....and in another week I'll get to experience these idiots first hand...good bye safe Afghanistan...I am going to a place truly dangerous....the roads and streets of America.

Hyperlights are good warning lights. Though I don't have them on my Rocket, I have a set on my Vstrom, and I have had co-workers remark how "irritated" they are by them. Because they're ...so bright and conspicuous. The set I have also stay illuminated as running lights (much brighter than the stock tail light) and then will pulsate 10 times when you engage the brakes, and then will stay on BRIGHTLY illuminated until you release the brake.

Many of you know this, but good to read it again...

You're best defense against being rear ended? Always stay near the side of a car that's in front of you and always keep an eye on your mirrors.... until traffic stops and stacks up behind you.

If you see someone closing in fast while you're stopped; get ready to dart your bile alongside the car in front of you... or if no car in front of you; move laterally quickly.
 
I ride while wearing high-vis yellow jacket, helmet, AND gloves. I am convinced the color has save me more than once.

And once is all it takes.

After being hit on a yellow HD w/ large yellow dry bag on the back and hearing the driver didn't see me (and he ran thru a stop sign to do it), I wonder about some drivers. No cell, no alcohol, just an idiot. I now wear Hi-Viz, full helmet and Hi-Viz gloves, am overly cautious at intersections and have noticed that most drivers seem to see me much sooner than when I was wearing black leather. At night I don the reflective vest over the top of everything. I also have moving rear lighting, taillight flasher and extra lights around the plate, leave the bike in first at all stops and watch the mirrors. And I pray to whatever deity is willing to listen at the moment.
 
I got hit after the guy stopped, he just ran over me. I don't know anything would help with that. My helmet got damaged so I got a new one, this one is white instead of black, maybe that will do some good.
