Corbin Seat ?

For those who have them I need a review. How do you like it? Does it fit well on the bike? Is it comfortable? Is there something that you don't like about it? I'm thinking about getting the duel tour and just wanted to hear some opinions before I buy.

Mounting sucks. If you get one, pull the locking tab off the stock seat and rivet it on the bottom.

Comfort is okay for anything under 200-300 miles, after that, it sucks.

Backrest options are nice but adjustability features are limited if you are under 6' tall.

It's a good seat, but it's not a great seat and if you can't find one used, you're better off spending that money you'd pay for a new one on a custom fit seat tailored to your specific body type and ass shape.

I agree with the mounting comments, it sucks; however with Red Rockets advise I used two thumb screws and it cured the mounting problem to my satisfaction. The comfort, to me, is fine because I am used to riding long trips with a Corbin seat. I like the comfort of the seat and have no issues with the comfort whatsoever. The backrest is adjustable to a certain extent and you can fine tune it with a longer set screw and mounting screw. I have the dual touring seat and ride solo always and bought it for added luggage capacity.

Thanks for the comments, I don't know if Im going to opt for the backrest at over $200. If I get one I'll do the seat mod Juggs was talking about. I think theres a thread with pics about doing this.

I also like mine, I am happy with comfort and also use thumb screws for easy on and off. I had to grind down the mounting bracket that goes on the fender however to get the thumb screws to center in the bracket holes. Poorly designed mounting. For passenger I use Triumph backrest. Using Corbin backrest for passenger, it puts passenger to close to driver if using Corbin backrest for driver. The Triumph backrest allows passenger to lean back.

You won't necessarily have problems with the mounting. I did because I kept my tank leather on and it prevented the seat brackets and the mounting bracket to align. I opened the holes up a bit.

The Corbin is not for everyone. They are harder than most but some like them that way. This is the second one I've had and it took me awhile to get used to it.

You can find Corbin backrests on ebay at quite a savings. Juggs alerted me to the fact that there are knockoffs out there though so you must confirm with the seller that it is a true Corbin and not a copy. I got an all leather one for about $140.

I got my Dual Tour in April 2006 and the shafts were square then...pre-2006 I'm not sure. Pics of the shafts/deminsions:

In regards to how hard the seat is, I had a Mustang on my last bike which I thought was hard when I first got it but could ride on it all day with no problem
