Coolant Leak/Overflow?

Looks to be a bit more serious than hoses or the cap. Looks to be a failed gasket.

Update;
What looked like a gasket issue turned out to be a puncture in the radiator. I just didn't see where the coolant was running down. Not sure what happened but at least it's not a mechanical failure or a major issue.

Ive seen a few debates on other motoring forums about Evans Coolant and the general consensus is that using it is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other when all the facts are out in the open.
Personally what most interests me is the anti corrosion thing.

The amount of crud that builds up in water jackets is stunning. The "never having to change it - ever" - is a plus. Anybody who's had to de-crud an old classic car will know.

My R3 should have a coolant change this year - and I will be using EVANS if I decide to keep it. Which depends entirely on other things.

Wish I'd known about this when I still had the E-Type. Might not have sold it then. Cooling was it's weak spot.

Doubt the temperature running benefits will be noticeable on anything new - but ime a fair number of what seem to be "snake-oil" remedies DO WORK on old engines. Old being pre-80's designs.

that's bugger as far as cost is concerned would have been nicer to just have to tighten a clamp or two but at least it is not a major problem

Evans

I've ordered the Evan's Prep ($34) and Evan's PowerSport ($68)from Amazon... Am planning to change out the hoses for braided version, flush with the prep and fill with the coolant. Hoping for less corrosion and no need for overflow tank as it won't boil and won't expand. Although they state the engine will run cooler, I doubt it would be noticeable.

Does anyone know how much coolant is required?

YES ,Ive had to get crud out of old engines.Ill be watching to see how it goes.
Old guy who owned the local radiator shop near me ,told me a lot of crud is from owners mixing different types of coolant and from air getting in when coolant leaks out.

Were the rads too small on E types?

I think I mixed up 4 litres of toyota red and had a bit leftover when I changed the waterpump ,hoses and coolant.

Anyone know the australian price for Evans,I bet its twice the american price?

I to have been led to beleive if it had green in it from new don't put red in it and vise versa.
