Hi guys. Any advise please.

I fitted a clock to the bike yesterday and then went out for a couple of hours on the bike and when I got back the clock had stopped and the neutral light won't come on. I have checked all the fuses and there isn't any sign of any wires loose on the clock. I can't see it being a big problem but apart from checking the fuses I'm not sure what more that I can do.

I have read about the pin sticking for the neutral light but this seems a bit of a coincidence that both have stopped working at the same time.

Thanks

Mark.

Yes, I bought it from the Triumph dealer.

Does the light in the clock still work ? I looked at the electrical drawing and the clock circuit and the neutral light don't appear to have anything in common. It's kind of hard to tell as the "instrument panel" is not displayed in detail. I would take the fuses out and look at them good. Sometimes they blow down inside, but look fine from the top. Also check the neutral light / gear position sensor wire. The sensor is on the left back side of the engine near where the drive shaft goes in. One could also employ the "Chinese reboot" and unhook the battery for a few minutes in case the ECU got an evil spirit in it. I agree that it would seem odd for both to fail simultaneously and not be related, but that is the kind of thing that makes electrical troubleshooting so interesting.

The plot thickens. The clock lights up and I've had the battery disconnected for a while too and I've just noticed that the rev counter isn't working either. I've started the bike again and still no green neutral light. I'm getting worried now.

To rule out the gear position sensor, will the bike start in N with the kickstand down? I'm really not sure why the clock would affect the neutral light...

When mine was new I lost most but not all the inst cluster on the way home from the dealer after having the clock fitted. It turned out to be a soldered joint in the clock that had caused a short and blown a fuse feeding the cluster. If I remember correctly I lost speedo & most warning & background lighting.

The bike will start with the stand down in neutral so I guess that rules out the sensor. I have ordered a tube of electrical grease. When that arrives I will unplug the connector and clean the terminal out and then reconnect it. It has to be something simple for this to have happened at the same time. I have rechecked the fuses and they all look good.

Do you still have the other warning lights? I've lost mine and the tacho from time to time. I traced it to the connector block under the tank right at the front.
